New Camera and The Mission Nombre de Dios

So a couple of weeks ago I bought a new camera. A Nikon D3300. I am so loving it. Here are some shots of my first test with it at the Mission Nombre de Dios and Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche here at our home in Saint Augustine, Florida.

Quoting the website: http://missionandshrine.org/,  The Mission Nombre de Dios traces its origins to the founding of the City of St. Augustine, America’s oldest city, in 1565. On September 8, 1565, Pedro Menéndez de Avilés landed and proclaimed this site for Spain and the Church.

In the early 1600s, the Spanish settlers of St. Augustine established the first Shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary in the United States. The present chapel was reconstructed in 1915 and enshrines a replica of the original statue of Nuestra Señora de la Leche y Buen Parto – Our Lady of the Milk and Happy Delivery.

Next we have The Great Cross. It is made of stainless steel and rising two hundred and eight feet above the marshes of the Matanzas River, stands as a sentinel over the Mission - See more at: http://missionandshrine.org/great-cross/#sthash.dY8NQhi9.dpuf

We had a great time walking around and playing with the new camera! Here are a few more shots we took with it.

Kenzie's 16th Birthday

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Well this past Sunday was my daughter's 16th birthday. She is my bonus child, Kenzie. She is my step-daughter, but I hate that term.

KENZIE

She had never been to a Japanese restaurant so we went to one of our local ones. My daughter, Caitlyn, was there along with my parents and of course, Kenzie's dad, Bill.
We also had my grandbaby, Madelyn there, trying to steal the show!

MADELYN

We had a great time and of course the food was delicious!

Kenzie said she had a great time, especially when the cake and presents came!

The waiter actually said this was the coolest cake he had ever seen. Guess he was a Star Wars fan!
This last picture I took was proof that everything we did was worth it....

HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY KENZIE!

My best Chica!

As I sit here, going through all of the pictures I have taken, I realize how blessed I have been in many aspects of my life.  Have I had all perfect, wonderful days? Absolutely not. But when they are good, man are they really good. I have many wonderful people in my life that make my days great. One of them has a heart like no other!

Her name is Lisa Lesik and she is a beautiful human being , inside and out! She is a mom to her own furbabies, who I will introduce you to in a little bit, and a foster mom to a special group of pups from GetALong Dachshund Rescue , that I love and adore as well.

Lisa is the type of woman who will make sure her friends are taken care of  before she is and that her furbabies eat before she does. She works a full time job and comes home to another full time job taking care of these beautiful animals. Lisa puts up with my anxieties, my mouth, my funky quirks and listens to me whine about the dumbest things. She has been through so much in her own life and yet she doesn't let it keep her down. She is my best chica and I am never giving her up!

Here are her furbabies and then I will introduce you to her foster babies:

JAKE

JOEY

JASPER

LIZZY

SASSY

PEPPER

Her current fosters from GetALong Dachshund Rescue are :

BERT
This wonderful double dapple boy is approximately 5 years old. He is partially deaf and mostly blind and lives life to the fullest! He is the sweetest and most loving boy anyone could ever have€™. Bert is a snuggler! He loves to sleep to with a stuffed animal! He loves to sleep in the big bed, and doesn'€™t try to jump down without help. This wonderful boy is house trained and does well walking with a leash. Bert likes other dogs and kitties too! He would do well with children over the age of 13 years. Bert will bark at sounds, but settles quickly with assurance that all is well.

MEGAN AND MOLLY
Meagan and Molly are bonded, loving 13 year old sisters who would love a home to call their own. These tiny little 9 pound girls lost their home after their beloved person had to go into assisted living and was told she could only bring one of them. Knowing that they would not do well if they were separated, she made the difficult decision to release them to rescue. Megan and Molly get along well with all dogs and kitties too and would like a quiet home where they can enjoy a nice cuddle and a yard to play in. These 2 lovely girls are trained to use potty pads and are working on their outside house training. They would love to go for walks, but they are equally happy to relax at home with you! These lovely girls are waiting for a home that will offer them a happily ever after!
